Welcome to Nichols Library, a cornerstone of Naperville, Illinois, that does more than just lend books—it fosters a thriving community. Located at 200 W. Jefferson Ave., Naperville, IL 60540, this library is a hub for learning, creativity, and connection.
A Rich History
The story of Nichols Library began over a century ago with a generous $10,000 bequest from Professor James Nichols, who wished to ensure that no child in Naperville would be without books. The original library opened its doors on September 22, 1898, serving a population of 2,200 residents. As the community grew, so did the need for a larger space. In 1986, the current facility opened its doors, offering more than four times the space of the original building and housing over 350,000 items, including books, audiobooks, and e-resources.
