In an exciting fusion of fandoms, Fantasy Con is set to debut in Naperville this year, bringing together the best elements of POPFEST and the Fantasy Card Show. Scheduled for September 21, 2025, at the Naperville Yard Indoor Sports Complex, this inaugural event promises to deliver on its tagline: “Where Pop Culture Meets Fantasy.” Event organizers are creating an engaging experience that spans multiple pop culture universes, encompassing anime, gaming, comics, and collectibles.
“Fantasy Con represents a natural evolution of what fans have been asking for,” says the event’s lead coordinator. “We’ve seen incredible enthusiasm at both POPFEST and the Fantasy Card Show over the years, and combining these communities under one roof creates something unique. Naperville’s central location makes it a great gathering spot for enthusiasts throughout the Chicago suburbs and beyond.” The all-day event will run from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, giving attendees ample time to explore everything the convention has to offer.
The star-studded guest lineup features voice acting talent from some of the most beloved franchises in animation and entertainment. Jason Douglas, known for his role as Beerus in Dragon Ball Z and appearances in hit shows like The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad, headlines the special guests. He’ll be joined by Greg Chun, the voice behind Demon Slayer’s Muzan and One Punch Man’s Garou, creating an impressive roster for anime enthusiasts. Additionally, Laz Alonso from “The Boys” and Jay Goede, the original voice of Mewtwo from the first Pokémon movie, round out the celebrity appearances.
These special guests will participate in photo opportunities, autograph sessions, and panel discussions throughout the day, providing fans with multiple opportunities to interact with their favorite personalities. “Having voices from franchises as diverse as Dragon Ball Z, Demon Slayer, Pokémon, and The Boys really speaks to our commitment to represent the full spectrum of fantasy and pop culture,” noted one of the event organizers. “We’re especially excited to have Jay Goede, whose voice work as Mewtwo resonated with an entire generation of Pokémon fans.”
